Maryanne Hartigan Schrank has been a full-time realtor since 1982. She grew up in Troy, eldest of five children, went to Emma Willard School, Sacred Heart School, Catholic Central High School. She received her B. A. from Georgian Court University, the Mercy College of New Jersey; her M. A. from Siena College. After returning to New Jersey to teach Latin at Georgian Court and guide recruits to the fledgling Peace Corps, she and her husband settled in Albany to raise their children in the beautiful Pine Hills.
Maryanne’s roots are in the Capital District, not only her twigs and branches. She has volunteered throughout her adult life in each community in which she’s resided. As a member of the Junior League of NYC she made Recordings for the Blind to honor one of her dearest friends whose diabetes had rendered her blind. She was active in her children’s schools: Holy Cross and Albany High School. She was a charter member of the board of The St. Paul’s Center, a residence for homeless mothers and their children. For the last 15 years she has volunteered among Albany’s homeless population on the Homeless Action Van and she visits women at the Albany County Jail.
Her love of education and caring and concern for people translates into old-fashioned personalized service for each client...her trademark in the real estate profession during more than three decades. She listens, communicates well, teaches; whether the client is buying or selling a cottage or a castle matters not to Maryanne – each client receives the same care!
Maryanne’s longevity in the profession, like her roots in the area, has enormous benefits. She didn’t jump in during a boom and find herself flummoxed about what to do when a bust occurred. No! When Maryanne was licensed, rates had recently DROPPED FROM 18% TO 14%. Nor did she come in as a last resort, having been fired or down-sized from something else, or bored in retirement. Real estate was a longtime dream, planned for when her children no longer needed her at home.
Longevity has proved that there are really no “good” or “bad” markets… challenging, yes; some better for buyers, others for sellers, yes. Maryanne has seen several of each and has helped some clients through the heartbreak of “challenges” that resulted in great losses, has rejoiced with others for whom a market has provided a gift! It's never easy; requires great skills in marketing, negotiation and absolute honesty and loyalty! But this is not a profession for the timid, nor for those without heart!
Maryanne is grateful for all the twenty first century innovative approaches to business, the educational opportunities, and highest level of support provided by HUNT Real Estate ERA. Each client has a winner with Maryanne Hartigan Schrank and HUNT Real Estate ERA!
